Okay, this is the first work day in... *counts* fourteen, that I am home before 5 pm. It's also the first week in the past three that I haven't had meetings 4/5 afternoons in the week. So, I took
the chance when I had it and hightailed it out of there to get home in time for the trick or treaters! One of the things I really love about cleaning is the aftermath of it, when I'm sitting in the
living room and the floor & table are clean and I'm drinking tea and just sort of... breathing. This weekend we had a lot of house projects:~copilot patched the 3 foot hole in our living room
ceiling (oddly, noone commented on my post about it -- maybe the post didn't show up on anyone's flist?)~we put up a few more paintings~I cleaned the bathrooms, kitchen, guest room, and living
roomAnd then we got to hosts visitors!!!janicechess, yodels, & wook77 came for the afternoon, and even though I was still in my robe when they got here (but I was wearing underwear, honest!!),
they forgave me enough to come inside and hang out for many hours. We had wine and fondue and muffins and several other things that I can't remember right now.I love hanging out with fandom people,
and this was just lovely. We watched someone wander around my house wearing a blanket wrapped around them, we watched the GoF extras (wheee for Seamus & Dean dancing!!), and then turned on the
football game and watched exactly none of it. :)After janicechess & yodels left to drive yodels to the airport, wook77 and I wrote down a bunch of prompts and did a whole bunch of writing. We
tried to time ourselves to write for only 5 minutes, but kept stretching it to 10. It was nice to write with no expectations, just for the sake of writing. If I get my shit together, I'll type some
of them up and post them here, though, don't expect much. :POn Monday I took a day off work (*gasp*) and we went to the National Gallery of Art in DC and looked at a few different exhibitions,
particularly:~ Edward Hopper [here]~ The Art of the American Snapshot, 18881978: From the Collection of Robert E. Jackson [ here]The exhibitions were many, many shades of awesome, not the least of
which being that the Snapshot exhibit had several images of same sex touching/kissing/friendship and etc... that were simply included without any preamble. I think both wook and I were really
pleased to see that. All of the pieces in the exhibit were treated as equally important; this was one piece of the collection. Granted, I know nothing about the collector -- Robert E. Jackson --
but this, at least, speaks well of him.Well, this post doesn't speak well of my ability to be concise, now does it? Oh well. *love*How are you all? ♥
